No Strings Attached: Muppet Magic in a Makeup Palette
Eyeshadow Palette packaging design created in partnership with Disney as a special edition collab for their Muppet Movie launch - a fave from my personal design archives!
Throwback to the time I was asked to design for one of my childhood favorites!
Collaborating on this limited-edition Disney x theBalm eyeshadow palette for The Muppet Movie was a dream come true.
I worked directly with the Disney team to bring their vision to life. And if you’ve ever worked with Disney, you know they take character integrity seriously. Every Muppet has an established personality, and every detail (from shade names to layout) had to honor that. If it wasn’t authentically Kermit, it wasn’t going in the palette.
Beyond designing the packaging from cover-to-cover, I also helped shape the product itself… from developing formulas to naming shades and inventing the component structure. At the time, this barn-door-style compact was revolutionary. Instead of opening like a book, the dual-flap design separated powder shadows from cream lip/cheek products to keep the products clean. A small packaging innovation that made a big difference in user experience.
This eyeshadow palette was a limited run and has since become a rare collector’s item, and one of my favorite projects to date. It blends character, color, and storytelling in the most muppetsational way.
Sometimes your inner child gets to lead the creative process, and that’s when the magic really happens.
