Smart Packaging Design: How Dermalog Kids Solved the Toddler Skincare Problem
Bunny ears on packaging may just make diaper changes fun… this product is actually designed with parent’s needs in mind.
Can we talk about this Dermalog kids packaging for a second? 🐰
As a packaging designer, I'm always looking at how brands solve real problems, and this line absolutely nails it.
The fundamentals are solid: clean branding, strong shelf presence, and that sweet spot of "obviously for kids" while still feeling premium enough for discerning parents. But here's what really gets me: those bunny ears! They're not just cute, they're genius.
Anyone who's ever chased a naked toddler down the hallway clutching diaper cream knows the struggle is real. Kids don't care about your skincare routine. But a bottle with bunny ears? That's a toy. That's fun. That's suddenly cooperative bath time.
This is what good design does: it solves problems we didn't even know we could fix.
If I'm nitpicking (because what designer doesn't), I'd love to see the product function called out a bit larger for easier shopability. When you're speed-shopping with a kid melting down in aisle 3, you need to know what's sunscreen and what's body cream at a glance.
But overall? This packaging makes me smile, and more importantly, it makes parents' lives easier. That's a win in my book.
What do you think? Am I the only one nerding out over children's skincare packaging? 😅
