Beautiful Package Design, or Logistical Cat-astrophe?
russian design agency depot has developed the new branding identity for milgrad’s bryansk dairy plant.
As a packaging designer, I love the bold, clean design that tells a story across the shelf. BUT...
- As an inventory planner, I am already anxious about the SKU management.
- As a retail merchandising manager, I am uneasy about executing this planogram correctly at big box stores.
- As a sales manager, I can already see the RTV emails stacking up when the torso outsells the butt.
- As a community manager, I’m bracing for the social media chaos after teenagers inevitably rearrange these cats into... less appropriate poses.
- As a non-dairy drinker, I’m curious if cat’s milk would upset my stomach the same way cow’s milk does.
- As a cat lover, I’m just hoping they aren’t suggesting you feed milk to your cats.
It’s great to be a talented packaging designer.
But the real magic happens when you think cross-functionally... understanding how your work impacts inventory, sales, operations, marketing, and the customer experience.
Packaging that looks great doesn’t work if it makes everyone else’s jobs as difficult as... herding cats.
